The warm water temperatures make snorkeling a year-round activity, and what lies underwater is a fantasy world of exotic marine life, mystery and colour. Due to the island’s proximity to both the Mediterranean and the tropics, the sea life is a surprisingly diverse mix of temperate, pelagic and tropical species. Turtles, whales and dolphins are frequent visitors to the coasts, but snorkelers can spy smaller species.

Corralejo Dunes

South of Corralejo there is the 11 km long dune area of the National Park (Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo). The sand is very light-coloured and fine. From the beach you have a fantastic view of the islands "Los Lobos" and "Lanzarote". The beach is suitable for children, you can also do naturism. In order to shield yourself from the wind you can use stone castles which are big enough for two. There's also a marked off area for wind surfers and kite surfers.

One of the Canaries biggest amusement parks, the recreation area is home to more than 3,000 creatures of roughly 250 species.
